The memory of Ifni, told by those who lived it
An editorial project and cultural website around Jesús Abellán Segovia's African Trilogy on the Ifni War (1957–1958) and the Spanish Sahara, with testimonies from soldiers from Castellón. In 2026 we rebuilt the site from scratch on a custom theme: an in-browser two-page reader for the three books (622 pages), the archive of 83 photographs digitised and catalogued one by one, a campaign map with 17 places and a twenty-milestone timeline. All free, no signup, no ads.

Giving visibility and accessible reading to a literary and historical project about a little-known conflict in Spanish history. And, five years on, turning three PDF books and a box of photographs into an open archive you can read and browse in the browser.
In 2021 we built a digital publishing site on WordPress with all three books free to read, an author profile, a catalogue, contact and historical context. In 2026 we rebuilt it entirely on a theme made for this work ("Archivo del desierto"): a two-page reader inside the browser, with no downloads or third-party viewers, where a transcribed diary is not laid out like a chapter; the album of 83 plates from 1958 and 1959, each with its reference, caption and full-size enlargement; the campaign map and the timeline, from an 1860 treaty to the last flag lowered.

What happened to Suspiros del Sáhara after launch
A lifetime's work, published with the dignity it deserved and kept online at no charge since 2021. All three books read in full in the browser, Pascual Guillamón's diary is transcribed and accessible, and the photo archive is browsed and shared by veterans' families. A legacy that now can't be lost, put online from the very city the Tetuán XIV left from.
